                                                                                                          Lekha Publishers runs ten week-long camps during summer for
                                                                                             children  entering grades 2nd through 8th or between the ages 7 - 14.
                                                                          During the week, children will learn the basics of creative writing through fun and games. A
                                                                    typical day at the camp starts with a language warm-up session at 9:30 AM. As the day progresses
                                                           they will  take part in outdoor word games, story telling, writing, illustration, and peer-editing
                                             sessions. Depending on their comfort with computers they will learn formatting using Microsoft Word and                          
                                            Publisher on laptops. For details check the schedule given below.

                                                                                                             Week ending July 4th; $200 if you register before5/15)

Proper punctuation, grammar, and composition will be taught through

techniques of essay writing in an encouraging atmosphere. They will

Fundamentals
of
Creative Writing
Participants will learn the fundamentals of writing creatively and how to
handle writer's block.

Laptops will be provided for them to format their work. By the end of
the week they will have a first draft of a story in a genre of their choice.

Poetry and Playwriting
Participants will learn the art of writing verse and emoting and will read
age relevant poems and plays. During the week they will write poems
and a short skit, which they will then format on a laptop using Microsoft
Word or Publisher. By the end of the week they will have completed the
first draft of a collection of poems and a screenplay in a genre and
format of their choice.

Story Writing
Participants will learn the art of telling a story and putting it on paper.

The Art of Illustration
Different methods of illustrating books will be taught as participants
experiment with various media. They will illustrate a story using a media
of their choice.

Editing Skills
Participants will learn the art of editing by reviewing their own work and
that of their peers. By the end of the week they will take home a well
written story, play,essay, article, or a collection of poems

Create –A-Book
Participants will learn about different methods of binding.
Those that have a well edited version of their work will receive an ISBN
number. All participants will take home two  bound copies of a story,
play, collection of poems, or a collection of short stories.

Advanced Writing
Skills!
Techniques of essay writing and report presentations will be taught in a
friendly atmosphere. Participants will read from age relevant literature
and learn how to think on their feet.
