Twenty-six uncommon dinosaurs, each starting from a different letter of the alphabet enthralls the young
reader, as he looks at pictures that one cannot help smiling at. It is a book that grows with a child. The
preschooler learns to recognize the alphabet, and then use the phonetic guide to pronounce difficult
sounding dinosaur names. Older children learn about the different flora and fauna that grew during the
different geological periods. The stark difference between the present day world and the world inhabited by
the dinosaurs is clearly portrayed in simple English.  A two-page spread discusses the different types of
dinosaurs and a pictorial appendix explains how dinosaurs are named.

different zones of the sea. The awesome creatures that live in extreme conditions in different
parts of the sea have been portrayed in simple English.  A two-page spread discusses the zones

“Poems From The Playground and Other Places” is an anthology of lighthearted poems written for
the child in everyone.

The poet Richard McKenzie has used his experience of working with children in a school setting to
write poems dealing with the stressful experiences of childhood. The poet has brought out many
moments of happiness and anxiety that a child experiences in his poems about friendship, bullies,
siblings and extended family.  He shows how children lose out on playtime, on how they try to deal
with a bully. Parents treat children of different ages differently, and the poet very succinctly shows
how children deal with this Some poems show how children wonder about their parents childhood.
With the help of illustrator Christine Gervasi, the poet has made this collection of poems one worth
keeping.
